Pregnancy Planning: Choose the gender of your baby?
Should we or shouldn’t we try and choose the gender of our baby?
For as long as I can remember I’ve had a personal preference to the gender of our future babies. Fortunately for my wife and I, when we discussed this many years ago we were both in agreement to a preferred gender. A first time for everything!
I think a lot of people deep down also have a preference. Although having said this, my main priority is for a successful pregnancy and I will be very grateful for happy, healthy babies, whichever sex they end up being.
With a personal preference in mind, it got my wife reading further about choosing the gender of our baby. I do realise attempting to choose the gender of your baby maybe frowned upon by some people and backgrounds. As nature should take its cause, right?
Well what we have concluded from our research to be most interesting, if you think about it on the flipside, its actually less about choosing the gender of your baby and more about your everyday life choices which may influence it.
Whilst you can use this knowledge and attempt to choose the gender of your baby, it may also be good to know some of the proven factors to ensure you are not unfairly influencing the result one way or another.
These factors can be quite small everyday things; such as diet, the type of underwear I wear, or even other things from old wives tales. It could be as a result of a major influence, such as the body’s natural biological processes and proven biological/medical rules. An example of this, the timing of conception, has a huge influence on the gender of your baby.
I’d like to give you an example of what I mean here. When I say it’s less about choosing the gender of your baby and actually more about your everyday life choices influencing the gender of your child. My wife and I have been following the 4 Hour Body diet for quite a while now. If you don’t know, this is a diet that cuts out certain sugars and carbs and requires you to eat a good level of protein. As a result of this, if she were to continue on this diet while trying to conceive, this choice we made, while very useful to reduce body fat, will have a strong influence towards one gender over another.
We plan to add a more detailed description of the everyday things that might be influencing the gender of your baby when attempting to conceive. So please leave your email address and receive notifications of updates, or check back soon.
So the question is, do we have winkies or front bums on our horizon? I’ll let you know later in our pregnancy if we were able to choose the gender of our baby, or more to the point, if in fact everyday life influences, did. And just for the record, the new diet started on Monday and I’m wearing a new style of underwear.
